Jacquemont's Birch
Betula Jacquemontti or himalayan birch are some of the very best trees for the edges of glades. The forms are not easily distinguishable but the most common grown, all belong to the var.Jacquemontii which have striking white barks. The himalayan birch has strong, steeply rising branches and firm, shiny leaves on stout, grooved and often dark red stalks covered, like the shoots, in long hairs.
Size: in 10 yrs=8meters - 20yrs=15metres-event.hgt=20 metre
Environment: Tolerant to most well drained soils. Sun or patial shade but less suited to chalk.
Key Features: White bark. Yellow foilage in autumn.
