Grows on high elevation sites with long winters. Requires minimal moisture (20-35 inches). We have adult white fir growing well in zone 4 (- 30 o F). Seedlings grow slowly for the first 5 years or so. Wood used for general construction, pulp and veneer. Valuable landscape tree.
