Weeping Willow Trees have been around for a long time. There are around 400 different known species of the different genus that the Weeping Willow comes from called the Salix. There are deciduous trees and bushes that are mostly found in very moist places and they are usually is cold parts of the Northern parts of the US and all around the world. Most of the different species are commonly called willow, but some have different structures and leaves and are called different things. Most of the willows, including the alpine, grow very low to the ground. A lot these trees don’t even grow higher than a couple of inches in height. If you have ever seen one of these trees that are that small it’s amazing. Especially if they are beside a big tree, like an Oak.

Weeping willow Trees have a lot of bark on them that has a lot of sap. If you have ever gotten sap on your hands, you know just how difficult it is to get it off. The sap usually has acid in it, along with very hard wood and huge roots that go deep in the ground. The roots are known for how fast they grow and how big they get.

The leaves are mostly a long leaf but sometimes can be found a little more round depending on the type of tree you are looking at. Most of the different kinds of willows are somewhat evergreen in color. The buds on the tree go up and down. They are covered by a scale that has two different buds usually smaller in size. The first set of buds usually fall soon after this is formed, and then the leaves come later. The leaves are almost like feathers in shape and size. They have almost like veins running through them. The stem on the leaves are usually short and thin. Some however get very big and spacious. The leaves turn all kinds of different colors and usually change with the season. .

The Weeping Willow Trees have male and female flowers that bloom all over the tree. They usually come in the spring and are usually some of the first leaves to form on the tree. The male’s flowers have stamens in them and vary in the numbers they have in them going all the way up to ten. The surface of the flower is round and unique. It has a lot of hair on it and it confusing to some who don’t know what to look for. Some of the buds can be dark purple to light orange. The female flowers have one small “vein” running through them and are also early to bloom. They are both very beautiful.
