Long before the Dogwoods bloom, the Redbud trees are coloring the forest and lawns with their early, brilliant blossoms. The Redbud is native to eastern North America and is highly adapted, and thus low-maintenance. It's little wonder the Redbud has become one of the most popular flowering ornamentals. Its reddish-purple flowers grow both on slender stems and from the trunk, before the leaves unfold in spring. The distinctive, heart-shaped green leaves add to the gracefulness of this small tree, with its spreading, slightly drooping branches.
