Paper Bark Maple
Hardiness Zones: 4-8, habit: deciduous, growth rate: slow, site requirements: sun to partial shade; prefers moist, well drained soil but grows in a variety of soil types; not drought tolerant. Texture: medium, form: upright; oval to rounded; becomes twiggy inside. Height: 20 to 30’ width: 15 to 25’, leaf: 3 to 6" opposite, green trifoliate leaves; silvery underside; bright red and orange fall color; one of the last maples to develop fall color; leaves persist into winter.
Flower/Fruit: Non showy flowers.
Comments: Cinnamon brown to reddish brown exfoliating bark; old bark is purple brown; seedling variability; cast light shade; hardy.
