October Glory Maple Acer rubrum 'October Glory'
Boyd Nursery Co.
P.O. Box 71
McMinnville, Tn. 37111
Plant Description - The October Glory Maple is a cultivar of the red maple released by Princeton Nursery. At maturity they can reach 40 to 50 feet in height. The October Glory is a good choice and a superior shade tree for your home. The October Glory foliage is lustrous dark green in the summer. The fall color is brilliant orange to crimson-red. The October Glory retains it's foliage later than most cultivars.
Red maple cultivars should be propagated only from rooted cuttings or tissue culture. If red maple cultivars are propagated from budding or grafting they have very large chance of having a problem named graft incompatibly. Which will cause the tree to break at the graft union. This happens when the tree is older. These October Glory's were propagated from cuttings.
