Northern Japanese Hemlock tsuga diversifolia
Many of our native trees have a European or Asian counterpart. Sometimes planting these more exotic species is not advisable. The Norway maple, for example, can seed in everywhere and crowd out our own woodland species. Other trees, such as the northern Japanese hemlock, Tsuga diversifolia, are not so invasive and are a nice alternative to our native trees.
