Municipal Composting Programs For Municipalities and Educational Institutions
Many municipal composting programs are promoting and distributing composters in their communities. Unfortunately, the money invested can be wasted in some urban areas.

In an urban setting, municipalities have found that people have obtained free or inexpensive composters only to discover that many simply throw the composter out or discontinue use. Why? People have neither the space nor the time to maintain low quality composters or a traditional backyard compost pile. Increasingly, growing regulations concerning compost piles have also forced many cities to ban or consider banning the open mounds due to pest and odor problems.

There is a better way.

An urban setting requires a composter designed for urban living. If municipalities provided an urban style composter that is easy for city residents to use, the adoption rate of people actually compositing will significantly increase.

Urban Garden Center is the manufacturer of the Urban Compost Tumbler (UCT). The 9.5 cu ft composter was designed to be simple, safe and easy to use. It has a patented aeration system that helps heating and deters pest (e.g. rats, mice, raccoons and insects) with a fully enclosed, revolutionary design that nearly eliminates odor and is 90 percent more efficient. Busy urbanites will support and continue municipal composting with an urban composter like the UCT because composting can now better fit into an urban lifestyle.

A BETTER MUNICIPAL COMPOSTER PROGRAM

We do either bulk or drop-ship sales for participating municipalities. Bulk orders are for 100 units or more to receive a 35% discount plus actual shipping costs to a single location. Working with several local garden/nursery centers to provide distribution is not a problem. Our drop-ship program provides a 25% discount plus our standard shipping charge to any home in the lower 48-states.

We ask the municipality or school to promote the UCT as an option in their community and provide a link to our web site from their web site. For drop-ship municipalities, the Urban Garden Center will give the municipality or school a promotional code that community members can use on our web site to receive a 25% discount. We ship directly to the home owner and for information purposes report monthly the sales volume to the municipality.

For qualifying organizations, both our bulk and drop-ship programs provide an additional 5% rebate to the oranization to help fund recycling programs.
