History says that the green-gold Bartlett pear first originated in Berkshire, England sometime in the late 1600s. The sweet taste of a fresh Bartlett pear is one of the hallmarks of late summer and early autumn. Bartlett pears can be pruned in late winter or early spring, before there is any evidence of growth.
