Growing the Unique PeeGee Hydrangea
'Unique PeeGee' Hydrangea is an old fashioned, fast growing shrub that has a form that is upright with a coarse texture. Blooming in mid July, this plant produces flowers that are white and turn pinkish to almost purple with age. These flowers are borne in panicles and may be 8 inches long.

This Hydrangea is especially noted for its huge display of blooms that flower during the summer, after most other shrubs have finished their bloom period; presents a great floral display in late summer.

This upright rounded Hydrangea with dark green foliage is an excellent accent. It produces self-clinging, aerial roots that easily attach to just about anything: pergola, wall, fence or tree, and may need 10 years to reach its full height, but patience pays off with this spectacular deciduous specimen.

‘Unique PeeGee’ Hydrangea thrives in rich, loamy soil that is moist, but well-drained. Does well in full sun or part shade and flowers on new wood. Because of this lovely plant’s size and texture, many designers have a hard time using it correctly in the landscape. It is most at home along the edge of a sunny wooded border or where the landscape is loose and informal. It reaches a height and width of 6-10 feet. ‘PeeGee’ flowers are also good for drying and preserving.
