Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Patmore' - Patmore Ash
The Patmore Ash (considered a Green Ash) makes a good selection in either an urban setting or to produce shade and some great fall color for the backyard. 5-7 leaflets break bud in the spring to mature to a serrated medium green. Fall color is a bright, attractive yellow that will bring attention to it no matter where it is in a yard. As with most Ash, it is tolerant of wet soils, but will also tolerate droughts. This tree is also adaptable to moist soil conditions, be it clay, loam, sand, acidic or basic (alkaline). This tree is also selected for the winter interest the bark can provide (see pictures at right). Susceptible to Emerald Ash Borer and other borers.
