Fraxinus ornus 'Meczek' - manna ash, flowering ash
Meczek is a special variety of flowering ash with a compact, mop-shaped, round crown that does not have to be trimmed to maintain its shape. It was selected in Hungary in 1980´s.

Its most important features are reduced size and slow growth. It can make 10-15 cm per year which makes it ideal for small gardens or narrow streets. Pinnate leaves are glossy, mid to dark green, with bronze shades when they emerge. Autumn colours are orange red to vivid burgundy. In late spring or early summer produces panicles of creamy white, scented flowers. Ashes are quite soil tolerant provided it is well drained, but will do best in humus-rich, neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Fully hardy to -29°C (USDA zone 5).
