Magnolia "Ann" is another variety named by the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington D.C. This magnolia soulangiana variety is an erect growing tree to about 15 feet or clipped to shape. Blooming saucer magnolias are pretty adaptable, finding homes in most areas of the country. Use in lawns or as an awesome accent tree, one that provides lots of color early in the spring. Saucer magnolia "Ann" begins to flower early to mid April, with flowers to about 4 inches wide that are reddish purple in bud, paling to rich pink-red on opening, fading even a tad more on the inside. This deciduous, blooming magnolia variety is hardy to USDA zone 5 to 6 and all higher zones, growing best in full sun with moisture retentive acid soil. Shipped as a potted specimen to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden.
