This page will focus on the cultivation and propagation techniques used to grow many of the plants in the garden and greenhouses.

" Trilliums - Cultivation and Companion Plants in a Pennsylvania Garden" - Mt. Cuba Center Trillium Symposium, April 17-19, 2008. The presentation discusses the methods used to cultivate and propagate Trilliums in this USDA zone 6b garden in SE Pennsylvania. The presentation also highlights choice companion plants such as Hepatica, Erythronium, Cypripedium, Epimedium, Cyclamen, Asarum, Anemonella, Arisaema and Phlox.

"Will the Real Trillium sessile Please Stand Up?" - The Rock Garden 118, Journal of the Scottish Rock Garden Society January 2007. The photo essay includes many color photographs and helps clarify the identity of the uniquely beautiful plants in the subgenus Phyllantherum (Sessile Trilliums), as well as highlighting some of the special forms that can be found.

"Growing Aril Irises" -The Rock Garden 116, Journal of the Scottish Rock Garden Society January 2007. The article describes methods adopted for the cultivation and propagation of Oncocyclus and Regelia irises, focusing on outdoor growing.

"Trillium" - Bulbs - Bulletin of the International Bulb Society, Spring 2004. The article describes many of the species of trillium found in the eastern USA and includes information on cultivation and propagation.

"Aril Irises in SE Pennsylvania" - Aril Society International Yearbook, 2002. Discusses the cultivation and propagation of species aril Irises (sections Oncocyclus and Regelia).

"The Magic of Cyclamen" - Bulletin of the North American Rock Garden Society, Fall 2001. The article describes the various species and cultivars of cyclamen and includes information on cultivation and propagation.

"Crocuses in SE Pennsylvania" - Crocus Group Newsletter, Fall 2001. Describes the cultivation of crocus species, with the focus being on growing outdoors in raised beds. Raising crocus from seed is also discussed.

"Daphnes in SE Pennsylvania" - Newsletter of the Daphne Society, Spring 2000. Describes the species and cultivars grown at "Edgewood" up until Spring 2000, together with tips on cultivation and propagation.

"Cultivation of Himalayan Androsaces in pots in the south-east of England" - AGS Androsace Group Newsletter, Fall 1995. Discusses the cultivation, in pots, of a variety of Himalayan androsaces. Propagation techniques are also covered.

"Cushion-forming New Zealanders - Cultivation in pots in the south-east of England" - Co-written with Nigel Fuller for the Bulletin of the Alpine Garden Society, Fall 1995. Describes the cultivation, in pots, of a variety of New Zealand cushion plants.
