Columnar English Oak (Quercus robur 'Fastigiata')
Columnar English Oak (Quercus robur 'Fastigiata') A native to Europe, this oak is upright and narrowly columnar in form. It grows slowly to 50 to 60 feet in height but only 10 to 15 feet in width and makes a good substitute for lombardy poplar. Prefering full sun, the columnar English oak has moderate water needs and is hardy to zone 4. It tolerates both acidic and alkaline soils.
