Southern red oak type found throughout the Southern and Midwestern U.S. in rich bottomlands near streams and rivers. Wood is considered valuable for furniture and flooring. Leaves look like pin oak and hang on late in the season. Reddish cherry-like scaly bark. Moderately fast growing. The Cherrybark Oak can be a massive oak reaching 120 ft. tall. IA seed source.
