CBG Cotinus 'Pink Champagne'
Posted on Sunday, September 05, 2004 - 09:26 pm EST :
I saw this for smoke bush the first time this year at the Chicago Botanic Garden's trial garden. It may have been there before, but it's variegation caught my eye this year.
Cotinus cogyria 'Pink Champagn' was much more vividly colored earlier in the season, as are the other purple smoke bushes (Royal Purple & Velvet Cloak), so this is not its best coloration. Imagine the purple a little less dusky and the pink a little more rose. I've read that this goes through the same brilliant yellow-orange-red cycle that the other purple ones do in the fall.
