Black Willow - Tree Identification
Black willow thrives in much of the North America as far west as Oklahoma.
Black willow are very flood-tolerant plant require lots of sunlight and frequently are the first to colonize sandy lands exposed as rivers change their course exposing poor sandy soil along their banks.
Black willow trees have a surprisingly high wildlife value. Its leaves are readily eaten by whitetail deer. Muskrats and Beaver, especially beaver feed heavily on willow bark and the trees provide cover for lots of species including ducks.
