Betula 'Crimson Frost' has attractive deep purple foliage which emerges burgundy in spring. The pointy leaves are ornamentally significant and turn an outstanding burgundy in the fall. The flowers are not ornamentally significant. The peeling white bark is showy and adds significant winter interest. Does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil type.
