An old traditional favorite!! Long thought of as the official harbinger of spring. Bright yellow flowers in early spring is followed by a handsome display of nice dark green foliage. Leaves are about 2"- 2 1/2" long and serrated at the edges. Very fast growth rate - during the spring, the branches almost have the appearance of yellow wands. A very good performer that loves full sun, average soil, and adequate moisture. Best used as group plantings, along fence rows, along banks, etc. This is an old, reliable favorite that was first introduced back in 1935 - and will probably be around for generations to come!!

Height: 6-8 ft
Spread: 6-10 ft
Growth Rate: Moderate to fast ( 6"-14" avg per year )
Hardiness Zones: (5) 6-9
Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade
Soil Preference: Average to slightly moist & fertile

Fertilization / Feeding: For maximum health & blooming, we highly recommend POOPeas Organic Fertilizer & Soil Amendment . However, either water soluble ( Miracle Gro, or equivalent ), or granular fertilizers ( Holly Tone is excellent ) are also good options. Most any granular fertilizers with a 6-12-12, or 10-10-10 ratio are also acceptable. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding standard chemical fertilizers during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting. POOPeas may be used at anytime.
